Gabriel Update - Will Norris
willnorris.com/2015/gabriel-update/
My post last week was supposed to just be a teaser, immediately followed by a post containing more details about Gabriel's birth. Then things got busy and now a week has slipped by. So, even thought it's a little later than I intended, here's an update. I guess the first thing is to formally announce that Elisabeth and I now have a son, Gabriel James Norris.
Bigger and Better Things - Will Norris

Unfortunate

: Vidoop reports another layoff [Updated] | Oregon Startup Blog May 13, 2009 […] From the sounds of things on Twitter, the majority of the Vidoop staff was let go, including the DiSo team of Chris Messina and Will Norris who joined Vidoop roughly one year ago. On the upside, it looks like Norris will be relocating from San ...
Go, REST APIs, and Pointers - Will Norris
willnorris.com/2014/go-rest-apis-and-pointers/
Go, REST APIs, and Pointers. May 27, 2014 by Will Norris. One of the more interesting design challenges with go-github (and subsequently the one that results in the most questions) is the use of pointers for most all of the fields in our structs that are marshaled and passed to the GitHub API. After a fair amount of trial and error, I settled ...

Why I'm going to Vidoop - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2008/why-im-going-to-vidoop/
So it's not exactly
news
at this point, but it is indeed true that as of today I am now employed by Vidoop. This has been a few months in the making, so I figured I'd explain a little of why and how we got to this point. I've been working in the Identity Management space for a few years now.
Authentication in WordPress 2.8 - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2009/authentication-in-wordpress-28/
Use Case. I've spent a lot of time working with the WordPress authentication system. I took over the OpenID plugin for WordPress two years ago, and was hired by Vidoop last May to work on the DiSo Project full time. Last summer, Matt Mullenweg invited me to talk at WordCamp SF 2008 about OAuth. As you can see in my slidedeck, it was a lot of smoke and mirrors at that point… we didn't ...

Will, I just wanted to give you an update. So far, no major problems with wp-openid. I like! Three things that I noticed--none of them show stoppers.
They get it - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2005/they-get-it/
Today I ran across another - the English Standard Version Bible (or rather Good

Publishing). This is a Bible publishing company that really cares about standards… how strange is that? Somehow I never knew this, but for the past two years or so they have offered a Web Service to perform queries against their Bible database using parts ...
The Links We Lost - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2012/the-links-we-lost/
Yesterday, I shared an article from Anil Dash entitled The Web We Lost on Google+. The article is great, and covers a topic that I have cared very deeply about for a long time. However, today I noticed that it turns out that I didn't actually share a direct link to Anil's article, but rather to a pocket.co shortlink that redirected to the article.
Improving my HTTPS support
willnorris.com/2013/improving-my-https-support/
Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS) has been in the
news
a bit lately, as both Facebook and Twitter recently enabled it on their main

. Google has also supported PFS for the last couple of years. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has a great article explaining what PFS is and why it matters , but in a nutshell it helps to protect against the ...

wp-openid moving to DiSo
willnorris.com/2007/wp-openid-moving-to-diso/
In case you missed it last week, Steve Ivy and Chris Messina announced the DiSo Project as an incubator of sorts to develop distributed social applications. Initially, they will be focussing on plugins for existing publishing platforms like WordPress and Drupal. On the WordPress side, they are using wp-openid as a foundation to develop additional plugins that build on OpenID to bring other ...
Google+ Profile Link Chrome Extension
willnorris.com/2012/google-profile-link-chrome-extension/
The extension is itself is pretty straightforward and tries to address a problem I've run into quite a few times. I'll come across an interesting blogger or website via Hacker
News
or wherever, and want to add them to my circles on Google+. But first I actually have to find them on Google+. If I'm lucky, they have a visible link or ...
