Attending IndieWebCamp SF 2015 - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2015/attending-indiewebcamp/
I'm looking forward to attending
IndieWebCamp
SF 2015 this year. I've missed the last couple of events for various reasons, and really want to get back into things. I'm thinking about maybe hacking on Camlistore a bit this year, perhaps doing some more work on documentation.
IndieWebCamp is for creators - Will Norris

IndieWebCamp
is for creators. July 19, 2013 by Will Norris. My favorite quote that I came up with, that will sadly not make it into my slides for WordCamp SF next week: Coffee is for closers.
IndieWebCamp
is for creators. My wife wasn't sure people would get the reference.
IndieWebCamp SF 2014
willnorris.com/2014/indiewebcamp-2014/
There's only a couple of hours left in
IndieWebCamp
SF 2014, and it's been a really productive weekend.
IndieWebCamp
SF 2014, by Aaron Parecki I mostly got Webmentions working last year, but my implementation wasn't good enough that it stuck… I ending up disabling things before too long. This year, the WordPress plugin is in much better shape, I'm using a much better WordPress theme ...
Jailbreaking the Internet
willnorris.com/2013/jailbreaking-the-internet/
I'm really happy to see that Klint Finley's Wired article about
IndieWebCamp
, titled Meet the Hackers Who Want to Jailbreak the Internet, is now up. It's a great piece, you should definitely go read it. I've certainly never heard this described as "jailbreaking the Internet", but I guess I can go with that. :) I think Klint did a great job capturing the heart of what we're trying ...

Using HSTS with HTTP requests - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2014/using-hsts-with-http-requests/
At
IndieWebCamp
this last weekend, Ryan Barrett noted that he serves both secure and non-secure traffic on snarfed.org, and that instead of redirecting non-secure URLs to their secure equivalents, he sends an HSTS header for all content. That way, browsers that understand HSTS will eventually start switching over to the secure version of his
site
.
Display likes in a facepile - willnorris.com
willnorris.com/2014/display-likes-in-a-facepile/
For example, see the bottom of my
IndieWebCamp
2014 post. There's still more I'd like to do with the UI, and the code needs to be cleaned up quite a bit so I can start sending it upstream, but if anyone wants to take a look, here's the interesting commit
Hum - A Personal URL shortener for WordPress - Will Norris
willnorris.com/2011/hum-personal-url-shortener-wordpress/
This is only the first step in what I'd like to build for a WordPress implementation of DiSo 2.0, but a necessary one. If you're interested in this, please contact me. You should also consider coming to
IndieWebCamp
in Portand, Oregon where we'll be discussing this stuff for a full weekend.
WordCamp badge fail
willnorris.com/2013/wordcamp-badge-fail/
Of course I loved seeing this, as it is completely inline with the first principles of
IndieWebCamp
and countless other efforts that encourage individuals to take more control of their online identity. So imagine my disappointment this morning when I checked in at WordCamp San Francisco, only to discover that my badge has my Twitter handle, but ...
Outsourcing comments to Google+
willnorris.com/2011/outsourcing-comments-to-google/
It was something I'd been considering for a while, and I finally resolved to do it after talking with Shane Becker at
IndieWebCamp
back in June. Shane takes the stance that his
site
should be about him and his content. If you want to comment or respond, you're welcome to do so… just find your own place to publish it (like your own blog ...
